The Health Care Coverage Crisis: States are Stepping In
Health costs are skyrocketing and the number of uninsured is growing steadily. States have responded by passing innovative health care reform legislation and implementing programs to improve or expand coverage. Will states be able to achieve where national efforts have failed? This session will include a look at recent state health care reform efforts as well as key policy issues that will impact the health care debate of the future.

The Promise of Prevention: Cervical Cancer
Cervical cancer is expected to affect approximately 9,700 American women and cause about 3,700 deaths this year, with the highest rates among African-American and Hispanic women. A proven set of prevention tools to eradicate cervical cancer now exists with the recent approval of a vaccine against the cause of almost all cervical cancers, human papillomavirus (HPV). How states make tough decisions to fund and mandate use of the prevention tools – vaccines, pap tests and early treatment of pre-cancers—will determine if this promise can be realized.
