U.S. Transportation Secretary Mary Peters
Will Address National Meeting of State Officials

CSG meeting in Oklahoma City Nov. 11-14

U.S. Transportation Secretary Mary E. Peters will be among the featured speakers during The Council of State Governments’ 2007 Annual State Trends and Leadership Forum Nov. 11-14 in Oklahoma City.

More than 600 state officials and guests are scheduled to participate in this year’s meeting, which marks the start of CSG’s 75th Anniversary celebration.

Other scheduled speakers include national pollster Peter Hart, renowned scientist and explorer Robert Ballard and Pulitzer Prize-winning writer N. Scott Momaday, Oklahoma’s Centennial Poet Laureate.

Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry, 2007 president of CSG, will host the opening plenary Monday morning, Nov. 12.

More than a dozen sessions are planned that cover a variety of topics of interest to state officials. Among the sessions:

  • The CSI Effect: Dispelling Myths on the use of DNA Evidence
  • America’s Aging Infrastructure: The Future of Financing and Managing America’s Transportation System.
  • Alzheimer’s: Policy Approaches to Promote Cognitive Health
  • Solar Energy: The Bright Side of Renewables
  • State Pre-K Programming: Challenges and Successes
  • The Graying of America: Providing Health Services without Breaking States’ Budgets.
