What are the International Programs?

Rapid changes in the global economy have propelled state governments into the international arena. As the nation’s oldest and largest state association, CSG is committed to helping states advance their interests and forge mutually beneficial partnerships around the world. As a result, CSG maintains a broad portfolio of international programs designed to support state international engagement.
State governments maintain a wide range of partnerships to foster cultural ties, learn from international counterparts, and advance other interests. CSG conducts a network of programs designed to support and encourage mutually beneficial partnerships between state governments and international counterparts. CSG offers these programs:
  1. Matching Grants, which links American expertise in environmental management, policy, and technology with Asian demand for environmental improvements.
  2. The International Partners Program, which allows sub-national government bodies to formally join CSG and participate as voting members of The Council's International Committee. By joining CSG as International Partners,
  3. Leadership Delegations, which offers senior state leaders an opportunity to learn about emerging international issues and to meet their counterparts in other countries.
  4. Visitor Programs, which exposes government leaders from around the world to to programs, policies and institutions of American state government, and to promote mutually beneficial dialogue.
  5. Meetings, Seminars and Fellowship Programs, which are held through CSG’s Spring and Annual meetings and offer insight into important emerging international issues of interest to state governments.
