National Association of State Technology Directors to Hold 35th

Annual Conference and Technology Showcase in Baltimore

LEXINGTON, Ky.—The National Association of State Technology Directors (NASTD), which represents information technology professionals from the 50 states through four regions, as well as the private sector, will hold its 35th Annual Conference and Technology Showcase at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore on the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Md., Aug. 26-30.
This year’s conference is highlighted by four featured speakers:
Michael Rogers, MSNBC’s “The Practical Futurist” and technology expert
Rogers is one of the nation’s leading experts on the impact of technology on business and society. Formerly the editor and general manager of Newsweek.com, he currently authors “The Practical Futurist” column for MSNBC.com and consults with Fortune 500 and startup organizations. Rogers will deliver a thought-provoking analysis on today’s technology trends and on what’s on the horizon.
Dick Heller, president, Full Extension LLC
Heller, a leadership development consultant and speaker, offers a positive framework for preparing ourselves and our organizations to weather turbulent times. A few key, practical ideas can help us clarify our leadership voice and our presence as a leader for our teams and for our customers.
Sgt. Matt Eversmann, hero of Black Hawk Down and the Battle of Mogadishu
Eversmann’s legendary leadership while facing the daily horrors of war cemented his status as an American military hero. An Army Ranger in Mogadishu as part of an American peacekeeping operation, Eversmann was awarded the Bronze Star for his service and was immortalized for his actions in the hit film, “Black Hawk Down.” Eversmann will share the lessons of value-based leadership, courage and selfless service in his emotional and patriotic presentation.
Dr. Alan Shark, executive director, Public Technology Institute, and assistant professor, Rutgers University School of Public Affairs & Administration
In his thought-provoking presentation: The Seven Trends That Will Transform Government Through Technology—New Challenges for State Technology Managers, Shark will present a vision for technology leaders at every level of government.

The National Association of State Technology Directors—Technology Professionals Serving State Government, is a member-driven organization whose purpose is to advance and promote the effective use of information technology and services to improve the operation of state government.  State members provide and manage state government technology services and facilities for state agencies and other public entities, often including hospitals, prisons, colleges and universities. These members also play a strategic role in planning and shaping state government information technology infrastructures and policies. Corporate members provide information technology services and equipment to state government. NASTD was founded in 1978 and has been an affiliate of The Council of State Governments since 1980.  For more information on membership, sponsorship and seminar registration information, visit www.nastd.org.

The Council of State Governments is our nation’s only organization serving all three branches of state government. CSG is a region-based forum that fosters the exchange of insights and ideas to help state officials shape public policy. This offers unparalleled regional, national and international opportunities to network, develop leaders, collaborate and create problem-solving partnerships.
