Ilene Grossman joined CSG in 1979.  In addition to her duties as assistant director, she staffs the Midwest-Canada Relations Committee, a policy committee that includes legislative members from throughout the Midwest and the Canadian provinces of Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Grossman has written on subjects such as border management and bilateral trade, areas the committee focuses on.  She is also the Midwestern staff liaison for CSG’s national Innovations Awards Program, which recognizes states for adopting creative policies and programs and shares information about these programs with other states.
Grossman was awarded a Fellowship in Trade and Comparative Domestic Policy by the German Marshall Fund of the United States in 2006. 
 A native of Chicago, Grossman holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and a master’s degree in government from American University in Washington, D.C.  Prior to joining CSG, she served as a congressional aide.
