John Mountjoy

John Mountjoy joined CSG in 1998. In his current role, Mountjoy actively coordinates CSG’s headquarters-based policy activities, programs and partnerships. Spanning the major areas of state government policy, CSG’s Policy & Research team focuses on the issues of today while preparing policymakers for the challenges of tomorrow.
Prior to his role as policy director, Mountjoy served as the first director of the National Center for Interstate Compacts—a CSG sub-organization he founded in 2004. In that role, he has overseen or assisted in the development of several interstate compacts. He also served as a research analyst in public safety and justice.
Mountjoy holds both a bachelor’s degree in communications and a master’s degree in public administration from Western Kentucky University.
