Innovations Award Winners Finalist - Michigan - 2005 - FieldManager A suite of software tools used to manage and track field-level progress of road and bridge construction projects, this program can be used by State Department of Transportation field offices, local government agencies, engineering firms and construction contractors. Finalist - Pennsylvania - 2005 - Maintenance Efficiency and Cost Effectiveness (MECE) Experienced maintenance professionals recommended 92 ways to improve asset management, staffing, winter operations efficiency, department work force versus contracting, and equipment optimization. Through the implementation of MECE, PennDOT has refocused the highway maintenance community on core business functions, redirected savings, increased productivity and facilitated the use of better highway maintenance business practices. Finalist - Wisconsin - 2004 - Critical Incident Response Team This team consists of seven employees who are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week through a single point-of-contact to coordinate the state’s response to critical highway incidents. Critical highway incidents are defined as unexpected events which cause the closure of a roadway and/or bridge on the state trunk highway system. |
