Get Beyond the Policy and Politics of Biodiesel
Biodiesel usage has grown exponentially in the last few years, due to a combination of financial incentives, dynamics in petroleum markets, and state and local mandates. The Diesel Technology Forum is holding a webinar from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 15 to provide more information to policymakers and consumers. It’s the first in a multi-part series on using biodiesel.
The Dec. 15 webinar will take a look at biodiesel availability, quality and impact on vehicle performance in order to help drivers and policymakers make informed decisions about the risks and benefits of expanded biodiesel use. Subsequent webinars in early 2010 will provide a more in-depth look at vehicle performance issues and considerations for developing mandates and other biodiesel policies.
Topics and speakers for the upcoming webinar are:
Bob McCormick of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory will talk about the industry’s status, including biodiesel availability, volume, regulation and quality.
Hind Abi-Akar from Caterpillar will talk about the experience with B20-The Two Million Mile Haul.
Walter Puetz of Daimler will talk about bringing biodiesel to the masses and using it in cars and SUVs.
A BP official will talk about the challenges of making fuel available, maintaining quality and the impact of state/local biodiesel mandates.
