LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 6, 2025) — The Council of State Governments elected four state leaders as 2025 national officers at its national conference in December. They include Hawaii Gov. Josh Green as CSG National President and Illinois Sen. Elgie Sims as CSG National Chair. They are joined by California Assemblymember Mike Gipson as CSG National Chair-Elect and Tennessee Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton as CSG National Vice Chair.
CSG national officers play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the mission of an organization that counts all states and territories as its members. They convene state leaders to learn from each other and identify public policy priorities for CSG to focus on. Additionally, they advocate for the interests of the states to the White House and Congress.
Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo served as CSG National President in 2024, while Connecticut Rep. Kevin Ryan was CSG National Chair.
“On behalf of CSG, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Gov. Lombardo and Rep. Ryan for their exceptional leadership and unwavering support of CSG during the past year,” Adkins said. “They have served with distinction, helping CSG remain a trusted resource for state officials across the country.”
“I’m proud to welcome this group of remarkable leaders, who, through their steadfast dedication to public service, have exhibited the core values of CSG. I look forward to working under their leadership as we continue to help state officials get things done for the citizens they serve.”
