Communications and Social Media Intern—The communications and social media intern position is within The Council of State Governments’ Lexington-based Communications and Membership Department. The intern will provide day-to-day support for ongoing projects within the department. The communications and social media intern will write for CSG’s newsletter, magazine, website and press releases. The intern will produce social media content. The intern will shoot, edit and post multimedia content to CSG’s website and monitor CSG member accounts.

Policy and Research Graduate Fellow—The policy and research graduate fellow provides day-to-day support to ongoing public policy-related projects within the department. The fellow will assist in policy activities such as conducting surveys of state policy; data collection and research; responding to inquiries from state officials; contributing to CSG’s online data platforms; and writing policy articles, research briefs and reports for CSG’s diverse audience of state officials. The fellow will work under the supervision of the director of policy and research and in cooperation with other departmental colleagues. The graduate fellow may expect challenging work assignments throughout the internship, including interviewing state government leaders from around the country on the policy issues of the day; writing articles for CSG’s weekly e-newsletter, bimonthly magazine and the policy blog; creating infographics that summarize policy research briefs and reports; updating CSG’s website and digital Knowledge Center; and producing audio and video products. Professional editors and graphic designers work with fellows to finalize all work products. The fellow will be expected to collaborate with CSG’s policy, membership and communications teams as well as regional offices, affiliated organizations and members to monitor, understand and share best practices and analyses on today’s most pressing state policy issues.
